How to Treat a Trilateral Treaty

Last week, in Mecca, three Moslem rulers signed a joint defense agreement on behalf of their governments. The host was the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia and his guests were the President of Turkey and the Prime Minister of Pakistan. In their collective security deal they pledged that an attack on either of the three would also be considered an assault on the other two. No practical mechanism has been set up, and right now it is basically a signal to the United States, Israel and Iran. Is there more to the story, and what could be lurking ahead?
