Israel-Turkey Friction : Is There Room for Miscalculation?

During the 1990’s and very early 2000’s, Turkey was Israel’s closest non-Arabic strategic partner in the Middle East, but with the rise of Erdogan to power in Ankara, the Turkish-Israeli relationship has now deteriorated to the point of open hostility.
Since Erdogan has been exerting his influence over the new Damascus regime, armed clashes between Turkey and Israel over developments in Syria are now not unthinkable. Could we really be on a path towards combat between the IDF and the Turkish armed forces?
