Israel as a gas exporting state

Since the oil crisis of 1973, during which the members of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries implemented an oil embargo on states supporting Israel – a boycott that lasted some five months; Jerusalem was forced to continually seek its energy independence, on the one hand, while bolstering its international standing, on the other.

Since two major findings of off-shore Gas Reservoirs, including the Tamar reservoir and the Leviathan Reservoir; Israel's international energy dependency has significantly diminished, shifting its standing from an exclusively importing state, to a somewhat significant player in the worlds international gas market.

Guests Miss. Paula Slier – Middle East Bureau Chief, 'Russia Today', Mr. Amir Foster - Chairman of the gas and oil industries association in Israel; and Prof. Eitan Shishinsky – Lecturer on Economics at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
Analyst Amir Oren.
